as far as I can tell, the overall average (technical, not artistic) difficulty of making music, subdivided into broad categories goes something like:
classical (western and otherwise)>jazz>EDM>Downtempo>metal>pop>funk>rock>soul/rnb>Reggae/dub>folk>hip hop>punk>noise>ambient
metal and hip hop are in the same tier of shitness. i might even rate metal lower if you're talking about modern metal and because rap has its roots in some good music
