Learning the Python course on Codeacademy. Good resource, or wasting my time?

good starting language, gotta work to create things on your own later on or else you won't progress. thats where I stopped

If you have NEVER coded before, it is an awful excuse for a teacher. Pick up any textbook (find one with online resources, if you absolutely must have something to compare your answers to) and work through every chapter and exercise.
If you're at a CS101 level in any other language, it'll teach you the basics of the syntax, but (with the exception of a relatively thorough explanation of splicing) it won't really hit the nuances of the language.

Stop asking questions and do things instead.
read 'learning python' followed by 'programming python'
Also try "dive into python".

Right here, anon. It's a great starting point. It starts off with code for basic games, you type it up and see what it does firsthand. Then it explains what is going on.
