No, I didn't just "be myself." I read hundreds and hundreds of self-help articles on socializing with other people, researched a shit ton of mental disorders to see if I had them, and asked people what they thought of me on a regular basis.
On top of that, I also spent a lot of time alone in introspection, in order to figure out what it was that I wanted out of my life. The result was this overarching life philosophy where only a few things really mattered to me, and I quit taking the remaining aspects of my life so seriously.
This probably sounds extremely pretentious and vague, because it is. It's mostly just something that I did by watching other people and initially finding people who were like-minded but much more well adjusted than me.
That "be yourself" stuff is bullshit. People who say this are just preaching the high school slut anthem.

I have a smartphone. It's a $30 LG Android. It uses Tracfone service, which makes the most sense for a robot with no friends to call or text. It costs me about $6 a month.
Can't run Pokemon Go on it, though.

It was accumulated over about 6 months of time. I just went about my daily routine and read them in my free time. Whenever I had some sort of social issue during the day, I would Google something related to the issue that I had and read the answers on it.
A big part of it was with my acquaintances roasting me on taking a bunch of shit too seriously.

PCs and tech, in general, yes.
But I personally can't justify spending $300+ on a smartphone that I will inevitably need to replace much quicker than my PC/gaming systems.
Plus I'm a robot loser who has no friends or social life. I only leave the house to go to work. A cheap smartphone with cheap service is all I need for that. Saves me money to spend on stuff I care more about and get more value from, like my PC.
