I thought Roosters were little funny creatures and figured that I could probably just kick one and kill it, and saw them as weak.
Now I know that if they don't get a certain amount of hens they rape the ones they do have excessively and disfigure them. Pretty brutal. They're also territorial and defensive and will sometimes attack anyone giving hens food other than them because they want to be the sole provider.
