I'd work at it 10-12 hours a day, trying to get as much work on Upwork and Elance until my skills were enough to make decent money. I'd also contribute to open source stuff. My priority would be to get enough money to rent a decent flat in town with a proper adult bed, not a shitty tiny single bed with a spiderman duvet cover.
Then when my github was impressive enough I'd try to get a good job or find a business partner to do a start up.
