It's not really specific at all anon. It just describes the kind of guy who had a slight edge over his peers at some point, got praise for it, and then thought that this edge comes naturally to him so he felt like he pretty much made it and stopped working on himself. Then over time you lose that edge but you can't pinpoint the exact moment when, since you have also cultivated a smug ignorance towards the world around you. Then you turn into that sort of person who really sucks at listening and always shrug off when people warn you or give you advice because it doesn't apply to you. The years go by, things don't work out and then you just have that moment one day at around 26 or 28 where you realize that you missed the train. Making up for lost time is incredibly hard, other people will just gradually snowball past you.
