It's a TV show. Normies need to like it so it needs dramatization, sex, drugs, "normie" humor, etc.
Also it needs more than one recurring character. You can't just have the one main character be alone all the time/have the camera on him all the damn time. And it's probably too expensive to just have guest actors/actresses who are only around for an episode or so.
