Toast is almost as old as civilization itself, made by the early Egyptians to put some spark back in stale bread. It's still one of the most versatile, delicious, and completely perfect snacks for breakfast or as a side at any meal. You can make toast from any kind of bread in the toaster, in the oven, over a fire, and learn to top with a variety of different things to your taste. See Step 1 to learn more about making toast.

Whether white, wheat, or rye, traditional soft sandwich bread makes excellent toast. It's always pre-sliced and results in a uniform toast that's perfect for making crunchy sandwiches or as a side to breakfast dishes.
Soft white breads and other sandwich loaves tend to toast much more quickly than more hearty breads. Watch these kinds of bread closely to make sure they won't burn.

If basic old white toast doesn't do it for you, try working with a denser crusty bread that'll yield a chewier toast with a crispy edge. Head to your local bakery and look for round loaves you can slice yourself and toast up to see what's good.

Because it's difficult to slice bread uniformly, toast is most easily made with pre-sliced bread you can get at the store. Even if you're buying bread at the bakery, you can usually have them machine-slice your loaf before wrapping it up for you.

Depending on the type and thickness of the bread, and on how brown or crunchy you want it, set the knob higher or lower. If you are unsure, put on a low setting and if necessary after, repeat at a higher setting.

Keep an eye on the toaster to make sure it doesn't burn, then carefully remove the hot toast from the toaster after it pops up when it completes the cycle.

A bit like this, although I don't have any posters up. I watch shit on my computer, which is situated on my desk by the window.
>>

People that see my apartment get a little bit upset.

I have zero decorative things. I only have essential furniture. I pay no attention to aesthetics. I wouldn't even know how. I have a lot of things. I keep them in storage shelves and in piles. A lot of boxes too. It looks like I've just moved in and never unpacked. I think it's all the boxes that disturb people. It's functional though, there's plenty of room to move around and do things.

I watch things on my desktop or laptop.

Thank you, anon. I now know enough about toast to comfortably subsist on nothing but bread for years to come.

It looks like a living room because I don't have a room.

I don't really watch cartoons. Just vidya and I do that from my mother's couch in the living room.

Alright guys, this thread has concluded. You can stop posting here and come to my thread. >>29939973

Thankfully, it is much more interesting and fun to post in than this one. I found the issues in this thread and fixed them in my very own, and free of charge I invite you to join me. Thank me later, buddy!

that actually does look pretty comfortable anon, i'm kinda envious

The reason that people do is because it becomes obvious you are a social failure.

I don't mean this to sound insulting, but guys aren't supposed to care about aesthetics. Women are. And when you date a woman when you are young, she usually plays home maker with your place.
>>
>>29941903
Huh yeah. Makes sense!
There are SO many thing like this that makes roboticism a vicious circle.
I kind of gave up...

Well, put in some effort into how your place looks. It's pretty easy to make your place look comfy over a few paychecks. Then you slowly replace the cheap stuff with nicer stuff.

When I first started out, my husband had a truck box (I think that's what its called) as a coffee table. We went to Walmart, and got a real nice-looking coffee table made out of particle board for about 50 bucks. Did similar stuff with everything else. Then, once the house looked like a home, we slowly replaced that stuff with better stuff. With the exception of the bookshelves, all particle board is out of the house. Have fun paying for real wood book shelves, though. They are like 2 grand apiece.

Eat shit. Women can bring real advice to people who just don't know better. I'm not looking for attention/dates, and I'm not looking to make you feel bad about yourself.
>>
>>29942007
Sounds pretty nice working on your place like that desu. WITH A GF.

Thanks for posting this.

Honestly I can't find the motivation. It's already comfy for me (and it's hygienic BTW, the place isn't gross, I couldn't stand that). I would have to do that just to pretend a girl made me do it. It's a bit depressing and it's not like it's the only sign I'm a social failure. There are just too many of these things it seems. It's too late. I'll just embrace being a robot.

Do girls actually enjoy fixing up places though? Is it fun by itself I mean? Maybe I could get a girl to help me do it as a friend. I've seen some of them seem genuinely perturbed by it and I had to keep telling them not to move my things (I'm sure I sounded autistic). Maybe it could be fun doing it drunk.
>>
>>29942194
Everyone is different. Can't say that EVERY girl does. But most girls want to if they see themselves spending a lot of time there.
>>
>>29938452
That's what my gf's room is like, I find it interesting tbf since I have the opposite problem and my room is cluttered with small objects all over the place
>>
>>29942208
>if they see themselves spending a lot of time there
Well then.
I really don't think they do.

I'll just keep living among my boxes and shelves I guess. I just realized I didn't even build a fort with them. I'm not even taking advantage of any of this.
>>
>>29942362
Not sure of your age/situation, but if you don't make an effort, don't expect anyone else to. If you are happy without making an effort, that's fine. Just letting you know what to expect. Husband has a friend that sounds just like you, and has since he got divorced a year ago. But his home is creepy, and he makes no effort to rectify this. The only date he's had in the past year has been with a woman who is literally mentally handicapped, fat, and works at a Casey's gas station.

>Not sure of your age/situation
It's bad. I'm 26 and I'm pretty much a meme robot.
Not NEET, but kind of. I'm working as an IT contractor but I don't get that much work (I probably could though). So it's kind of like I'm a NEET nerd but I have to go work sometimes. If it didn't pay a bit more I wouldn't even bother...

I'm not JUST being lazy though, I have pretty severe depression. Fixing up my place just feels stupid and pointless. But yeah, alright, I'll probably do it, eventually. Or at least make it less extreme. It's pretty weird right now.

And my apartment isn't CREEPY, it just looks like a storage area. Why do women always call me and my apartment creeps?
>>
>>29937496
Can someone please tell me where I can watch that video in the picture?
>>
>>29942523
I didn't call your apartment creepy, or you, for that matter. Haven't seen either.

As for depression, your surroundings can contribute to that, too, as can lack of things to do.

Hope your situation improves. At your age, you definitely need to make your home more home-like, though.
>>
>>29942598
Hrm yeah. I do keep busy. I work on my opensource projects a lot and play vidya. But I wouldn't be posting here like that if I wasn't missing something.

I don't think my surroundings would contribute to my depression (I don't think I would mind living in a submarine or space station for example), but I can see how it would be depressing to most people. Maybe I'm wrong and it would help me too. It's a problem by itself anyway.

Welp. Anyway thanks for encouraging me to fix it, eh. I have to I guess.
>>
>>29942715
Wanna snap a few photos of your place? Could give you advice, if you want.
>>
what video is OP's picture from?
>>
>>29942741
NOPE. But thanks though!

People might recognize it and it could become a meme because it's actually kind of funny.

It's a storage area. With a kitchen and bed and desks. Shitloads of computer parts too. Quite a few computers running, and cables. I didn't mention how nerdy it is yet... It would become a meme.

I have to fix it but I'd have to get rid of so much stuff. Maybe I should just work more and move to somewhere with more closets.

I get it though. If I bring a girl here, I have ZERO chance of getting laid. That's not the only reason why, but it's definitively a zeroifier.
>>
>>29942911
Alright. Good luck!
