As others have noted in this thread, men are expected to take the initiative when it comes to dating. For good or for evil, this is simply the nature of things. And so having reached the age of 22 without a woman approaching you doesn't necessarily signify you're repulsive. What actually determines whether one is repulsive is the reason he hasn't approached women.
As I said, men are expected to approach women. However, no man approaches without some invitation. Granted, it's rarely a verbal invitation. It may be a subtle gesture, perhaps nothing more than the look in her eyes when they meet yours.
A man may choose not to approach a woman because he's far too shy, far too insecure to even notice the subtle attraction a woman expresses. Like any other man, the painfully shy man does not approach without that tiny hint of welcome. However, if he's far too insecure to ever lift his eyes up from the ground, he'll never see any possible interest, even if it's there. The man in question may very well be repulsive to women, but he'll never know.
On the other hand, there are a group of men (a far smaller group, to be sure) that never approach women because they have met a woman's gaze and have seen nothing but disgust. A man like that doesn't approach because he would be mad to do so; his intentions would be considered inconvenient at best and tantamount to assault at worst.
So if you're wondering whether you're repulsive, don't ask why women haven't approached you. Rather, ask yourself why you haven't approached women. Is it because you're afraid to ask a question, or is it because you already know the answer?
Take it from someone who falls into the latter category; when it comes to the question of whether you're considered horrible by the opposite sex, that distinction makes all the difference in the world.
