A companion is just another missionary to help you out and work with, like a coworker. A lot of people end up friends with their companions but ot depends on who it is.

Not him but I'm practicing. The temple is really just an extension of what happens in the church. There's no summoning spirits, sacrifices, or anything like that. The closest you'll get is the endowment presentation, which is usually a video but in 3 temples is a live-action play depicting the Creation and the plan of salvation. My great great grandfather was a leader in the early church and my grandfather was a bishop. Maybe you just want to look cool and edgy, I don't know, but the Mormon church is a pretty pure Christian church for the most part. There's nothing anywhere involving Masons, Jews, lizard people, etc.
