I'm not popular at all but here's some advice:
1) Most people won't message you first, so msg them first. Most the convs I start are just shit like "How you doin', yo, hey" etc, shit like that.
2) On steam, I just joined 666 groups and shitposted, on profiles as well. Do this and you could rack up a high friendlist.
3) Like cartman says, you have to wave through all the dicks before you find anyone decent.

A. Youtube; comment on as many videos / comments / channels as you can. If you get along with some ppl, keep messaging them. You can quickly make friends that way.
B. Gaming; play some multiplayer games. Most players should be fucking executed point blank range with a .45 hollowpoint, but some are pretty damn decent. I'd suggest cooperative games, like an MMO or some shit.

2010~2012; still moderately social. I made a few more e bros, but most my IRL contacts became degenerate normie braindead fucktards, so I naturally gave up on most of them, and vise versa. Plus, living 300 mi from the big city I grew up near dont help either.
2013~2014; Antisocial Hermit NEET to the extreme. Went out of my way to avoid socialization. Only interacted with anyone to troll / fuck with them.
Late 2014; I started to shitpost everywhere on youtube, steam, etc. Managed to make a lot of friends and enemies, good times.
2016; The friendships got boring, but It's still ok as it is now.
My advice: Get used to rejection / backstabbing. MOST people suck ass. For ever 1 friend I even have, 10 fuckers treated me like shit or didn't reply.
Learn to not give a fuck. You're going to get fucked with or let down in life, ALL the time. Don't get too attached to anyone, and never rely on others for support, initially.

I have difficulty thinking of things to say and when I do actually say something, it's been described as "the way people talk when they're don't want to talk to you." Well guys, here goes. I used to have a couple of friends and we played League almost everyday. I got caught into competitive and when we played I would rage at them sometimes, usually only in jest. I also have a severe disconnect with people, and as such never felt comfortable just talking nice things and all so I would constantly say stupid shit like dick jokes and rape jokes and all that, which 60% of the time were not funny and just interrupted the conversation. They all disliked that about me and so told me about that. I took a break of 3 months from them, and came back, I was still the same way. I thought that I had to constantly make them laugh since everyone else in the group was either really funny or kind or everyone just liked them. I tried to hard to stand out and make them like me. I guess I was jealous of how close they were, and although I knew them longer, they all loved someone else much more. He was chill, funny and a great guy. I tried to hard to try to overpower him by insulting him to make myself seem better, and I did this with everyone. It eventually came where I was always the butt of the joke.Then2 friends started avoiding me, and I knew it was over. He blocked me on some channels, and I realized that I was still the same guy from 3 months ago. I left again, this time permanently. I have no hope in myself robots.
