The thing is, anxiety won't get better unless you expose yourself to the anxiety-inducing situation multiple times until you become desensitized to it. As hard as it is, keep up your determination! I bought a flat screen TV and she asked if I wanted her to carry it and I just picked it up with one arm and she laughed and said I was strong. I said "This TV probably weighs more than you" (she was a skinny blonde girl) and she laughed while smiling and just looking into my eyes. Then I turned around and left. She was still looking and smiling at me as I walked out the door.
I fucked up similarly at a Sears when I bought a camera years ago. I talked to a girl as she explained everything about cameras and we talked for over an hour (longest conversation I ever had, most lasting 10 seconds or so).
