I just study.
I really want a simple menial job, it doesn't even have to pay that great because I still live with mummy wummy and all, so she provides for me. I just want to do it so I can be busy for a while and so I can add some income to the household and not feel like such a parasite anymore. All I do to help is around the house and I don't think that's enough.
Any shitty job would do but my mom is a really proud person and would feel absolutely humiliated seeing her kid getting a mcjob and she would probably think it means I'm giving up on trying to achieve other things

My local Starbucks will help pay for my college, if I get a job there.

Spot on, anon. I thought my resume and work history would be enough. But I think people can tell that I'm a loner/outsider, that I don't really belong to the club. And as you said, I have never applied for a job that I actually really wanted. Why is it not enough that they're looking to hire and I'm looking to get hired? So what if my only true motivation is "I need money to pay rent and bills, you know, like everyone", it's none of their business as long as I do good work right?
