The minimum wage here is $7.25, but most places pay above that except in big cities and liberal states, which tend to have higher minimum wage anyway, but they also have higher costs of living on account of them being liberal states wit taxes out of the ass and being big cities. 10. Kept repeating this process, landed numerous press interviews, job offers, etc.
Whole process only took about 4 years but much longer if you count the total time I've spent programming. I think a smart motivated person could do this faster though if they had a good mentor.

The world moves very fast and I don't keep track. Every time I go outside and show up to an interview I must look and sound like a stranded time traveler or something.
I acknowledge that. I'm a loner, I don't really care about most things going on around me. I never participate in work events or socialize with my coworkers. The resume and interview standards are shifting constantly. I do my research, but people can probably tell I'm out of the loop. Even at my old office job I slowly transitioned into full home office (with their approval) because I couldn't be bothered to do the 20-minute commute. Some people knew my face, most didn't. I'm assuming my biggest mistake is that I'm on nobody's radar. My dad is exactly like this, he has this weird non-presence when he's in public. He just looks oddly out of place wherever he goes, it's hard to pinpoint. Maybe I look like that too.

I don't know if that is entirely true though. For example, I just graduated from college and got hired by a big american consultancy company as a software developer. I was then assigned to a local company where I live (Sweden) that had grown tired of pajeets shitcode. The company that I am employed at said that many local businesses here have grown tired of outsourcing software/cloud solutions because it almost never works and communication/support etc is always bad. We actually are being partly trained by people from India just to replace them. Not sure if this applies to the US but I can't see why it should not. The company I work for is IBM.
