I played a shit ton of harvest moon on gamecube and really loved stardew valley BUT why is the winter so boring?
I was really into the game but I just kinda drifted away from it because of the first winter. There's literally NOTHING to do. I already reached the bottom of the mines during the first fall and had collected a shit ton of resources by the first week of winter. Enough to have a golden axe, pickaxe and watering can and a few 999 stacks of wood and stone. I want to continue playing but I dread the idea of having to kill time for another ~15 days before I can get back to farming.

It would be fun if it had ranked matchmaking. The 5v5 is the only fun mode but people leave games after they've lost a round or two. It really needs a way to force people to stay for an entire match like CSGO or something. I looked into the amateur scene for something like clanbase in the early 2000s to fill in for matchmaking but it was pretty quiet. Would definitely like to play it with people who use voip and don't leave mid-game.
The reason I have so many hours on GMod is because I used to be pretty depressed with no social life and constantly roleplayed on it. I make screenshots on it lately.

Near the end of my GMod spell, I was running a server. I got out of the shit part of my life and started going out more, going less on the computer, but I kept the server up because I met so many great people through it and I did not want the dedicated players who played 24/7 to be sad when the server went down, as I knew a lot of them had problems and GMod was helping them cope. I had gone through the same thing and wanted to help them. However when I had to go work overseas for a one year period I couldn't take care of the server anymore, decided to give it away to a trusted administrator and paid in advance for three more months of hosting.

There's a lot of gamemodes that get people hooked for different reasons. TTT, DarkRP, serious roleplay, it's a really deep game with lots to do but it's not for everyone. My hours played on it beat out every other game on my library by a long margin.

I've never put over 100 hours into any game on Steam, and I only own like 23 of them. Though some games I've put probably 1,000 hours in but there is no time counter, like League of Legends. I know I've hundreds if not 1,000 hours into League at least.

I didn't even "go fast". I ran around the village giving all the characters I liked gifts (not just possible mates) and talking to everyone, watching the cutscenes, collecting stuff for museum etc.
I was going out of my way to not just get all the objectives as quickly as possible. I still only have chicken and a horse so I have much left to build on my farm but there's literally nothing to do during the winter.

I'm about 60-70% though the bundles and still have lots to work on at the farm. I didn't say I feel like there's nothing left for me in the game. I said I loathe the idea of having to kill time for 15-20 more in-game days before anything happens again. There's really nothing in the mines for me anymore and I have plenty of extra wood and stone in store. What else is there to do before spring? Giving out gifts and talking to people only takes up a few hours a week. I like the game but the winter really needs some fleshing out. You can only spend so many days fishing before going crazy.

When I was playing CSGO as a neet I easily put in 120 hours /2 weeks. But where I live 1.6 was popular as hell so I had ~50 people on my friends list who were playing CSGO even before they added skins to the game so I never played a game without a 5 stack.
