It's the social stigma around it (especially if you're American) that's the problem. Not just the legal bits (but the legal parts do come into play sometimes). Honestly I cannot understand it. I've had girls say I was the "perfect boyfriend" only to go on and lust after other men or just show zero interest in me. I've had girls fantasize about our futures together and then afterwards they tried to kill their feelings for me because they didnt want to "get to attached".
