are you really this dense? this "gap" was a time when the Catholic church fucked everyone up with immunity, 15 centuries of abuse and oppression of the people. Every church that came after was founded out of frustration with the catholic church, who in their eyes did not follow the teachings of Christ anymore, or to try and get themselves a piece of the sweet pie.

This is fucking wrong though, Catholic Church wasn't founded until 1054 after the great schism, before that it was the Chalcedonian church. Then the split occurred and the eastern Roman empire and some other kingdoms became orthodox- although many of the traditions we associate with these two churches grew after the split.
