I've spent most my birthdays alone growing up since dad's been out of the picture since I was born and mum travels internationally for work a lot. Honestly, it's pretty comfy; I can buy myself some nice shit and my clan on whatever came I'd be playing, typically some RPG game, would celebrate with me, as well as various other online friends. After all that when they're offline since it's midnight here and they've gotta go to school because they're in the U.S and I'm in Australia, mum calls me and wishes me a happy birthday and tells me I can use her credit card to buy anything I want within some generous set budget.
I feel like it'd be a lot more soul crushing if I was there, in person, just with a potential sibling and one parent, an awkward cake and an awkward setting
