Because you are no longer a young guy who still has a chance to turn his life around. You are an adult male loser with no excuses. Your parents hopes of you getting a job has clearly faded, your yearly resolution to get a gf 'next year' is no longer a motivating enough lie to keep yourself going, you start to realize dreaming about having friends one day isn't realistic because that day will never come.
Most people "lock-in" their career trajectory, personality, and lifelong friendships around 23-25. You've locked into a state of failure and it will only get worse every year.

I'm going to be 26 in 2 months. Hate to tell you younger guys this but every birthday stings worse and worse. You fall farther and farther behind. Its bad enough being a khv my age, but what also hurts is seeing guys around my age with real careers, nice cars, their own place, real relationships while I make $9/hr and live at home.
Adult life is no joke, we have been fed lies that it was some sort of fairy tale.
After 21 you don't have any birthdays to look forward too.

26 and my life has been static and awful since 20. I don't really get the whole "I wish I was young again" meme because my life has never been good.
If anything I prefer approaching my late-20's because I'm already fucked, so I have an excuse to not care. I have friends in their 30s who feel the same way.
