Check out this game I just played. I'm white.

I just started seriously learning the game and this is my favorite setup I've ever done. I started the setup with move 12.

i think you lack an appreciation of what a player's priorities should be in the opening stage

you need to get the light pieces out earlier than your opponent, the move with the queen where you block your white bishop is a bad idea, so is keeping your queen's knight at row 1

possibly learn sicilian, because people play it often

git gud noob, you can do it

By light pieces you mean knights and bishops?
>>
>>29861687
yes
i suggest nimtzovitch's book

also, perhaps even more importantly, do the little problems in lichess, where you have to get the right move to win

those are pretty good

Thanks. I've actually been doing those puzzles and like them a lot.

What move would you have made instead of QE2?
>>

i usually play 3 min, so i would have probably let the e5 pawn go and play be2 then 0-0, or alternatively qd6. If he does qc5xd6, you will have a pawn at d6 potentially blocking him getting his queen's bishop out

that pawn shouldn't really be there in the first place, it was good at e4

if black saw the queen trap you might have been in trouble because of your exposed king
two central pawns at e4 and d4 are generally more stable than d4 and e5, at least in most games

not him but you probably shouldn't have pushed it up past the point where you could support it easily. also play go chess is for fags desu

also also nc3 instead of that pawn move lets you start kicking his queen around and take advantage of his dark square weakness and maybe get a check off on his king
>>
>>29862039
Can you explain that for me? I can see how it could eventually lead to a check, but not the other stuff you said.

also also also i'm retarded and he can just play qa5 check to mostly get out of ne4 so maybe just nd2 or bd3 preparing to castle.

if someone brings out their queen like that you can often attack it with minor pieces for free development. his dark squares are weak because he traded his dark square bishop and his pawns are on light squares so in a perfect world you could just stick a knight at d6 to fuck with him. but the pawn might be too overextended to really support that actually.
