that happens because they start affecting the apathy and lack of energy before they affect the hating yourself part. What winds up happening is you still despise life and think its all pointless, only now you have motivation to do something about that.

why didn't you listen?
when you deep in depression you are suicidal but don't have the energy to do it, when you get pills and start to recover you actually get the energy to do it. thats why a lot of people that begjnt o recover kill themselves.
