I'm a restless 18 year old looking for a career, and currently questioning my possibly unrealistic expectations of income later in life
>>29841313
talk of your career of choice and income shit
>>29841379

>>29840600
Currently studying to become a doctor, which makes $300K+.
I'd be content with $40K/yr, though.
>>29841434
1. filler text
2. either engineering (if I get the grades), industrial electrician, or aircraft technician
average hourly is 30+ for the three, but engineers make the most
I'm still finishing up HS though
>>29841313
Oh. I thought you were a roastie after my money :)
I didn't plan a career, but I ended up being an auto mechanic. Turned my hobby into a mildly lucrative job.
If I was planning I would do a trade school thing. HVAC or welding or CNC or some shit. You make good money and aren't saddled with six figures of debt.
>>29841514
how much debt do you have to deal with once you get working?
>>29841379
>>29841434

I'm talking canadian buckaroos here btw
>>29841551
>how much debt do you have to deal with once you get working?
Roughly $350K+
>>29841580
how long will it take you to pay your debt off?
No idea what I'm going to do with a fucking history degree. Being a fucking tour guide is probably the best career option I'll have
>>29840600
>what kinda career are you planning on?
NEET for life
>how much money do you think is good enough?
Housing, food, and hygeine provided for by parents, plus a few hundred USD per year for hobby expenses. Good enough for me.

These monks possess no income, property, or career.
Yet they are happier than most Westerners.
Think about it, OP.
>>29840600
none
doesn't matter
nepotism is the only way to get a decent salary
>>29840600
No idea.
I've calculated it, and I can live comfortably off $30k. I'd like $50k just to be on the safe side (unforeseen expenses, emergencies, medical shit, the usual).
>>29842722
this is generally true
original9000
>>29842758
sure is nice going into the real world with no connections
$19/hr software development
$20/hr welding
is wanting to do something like audio engineering realistic?
Coming from someone who went the money route: it's not worth it. I'm miserable, hate every minute of my job and fantasize about quitting every day. But I won't because I'm wage cucked
>>29842842
Well, it's only worth it if you make "fuck you" amounts of money.
>>29840600
1. Level designer, game designer, something like that.
2. Where I live... 20 000 $CAD.
>>29843032
where do you live in canada where 20k is livable
Author. Already making plans for a zombie apocalypse novel.
>>29843076
Quebec. I live alone with my mom and that's what she makes.
I just want something that won't make me go out of my way to interact, and pays enough to keep me reasonably fed and sheltered until I die. 40,000 would be grand.
Biology.
Depends if i stay in my country or leave. If i stay some $1000 a month should be enough to live a very comfy life.
>>29843141
man, i should really fucking move then. every time i go outside, all i see is super happy boomer fucking shits who all bought their house for 50k and are now rich simply for not dying.
housing is expensive as fuck, and wages are actually going down.
"why so glum son?" :)
Engineer, I'll probably kill myself if I fail this
>>29843092
that horse has been beaten the fuck out already.
>>29843215
You're not in B.C., are you?
And... we don't have the best lifestyle, but it's enough for us. We live in a decent apartment. She actually makes a bit more than 20k, but I figured if she can house and feed two people with that kind of money, I should be able to do it alone.
>>29843333
