I don't think Mike Rowe has ever worked a "real" job. He got a communications degree and became an opera singer before becoming a TV personality. The closest he ever got to a "real" days work was half-assing a job for a few hours on his show.
I'm sure it's easy to have this perspective when you only have to do a job for a show. The people who actually do those jobs work long hours and will do it again tomorrow.

Yes that is true, but on the other hand you built a relationship with them in showing how reliable you are along with how eager and capable you are which does significantly increase your chance in moving up in the company.

if it is a small business and the owner/manager is the same person busting your ass to show yourself reliable or capable is perhaps more valuable (unless the guy is a sociopath, but we'll assume average person) than if it is a larger company in which the people who make those decisions are HR specialists entirely detached from the daily operations of it.
The sweat pledge is guidelines of "good work ethic" and in a perfect case scenario they are not bad advice, but human behaviour is far from a uniform entity and the people saying that it's a cuck manifesto can very much be correct in a given circumstance
