You will never be a disappointment to someone if you don't seek to prove your worth to them somehow.
What do you choose? Having your parents give you a pat on the back or living your life the way you want to live it. Picking up meaning for your existence as you go along. Took me a while to figure this out. However if you're thinking that you're a disappointment to yourself. That's another matter entirely.

I know that feel more than you'd think matey. You uncannily remind me of myself which is why I inquired. Hell we even have a similar age (21). Every day is the same old slog until you delude yourself into thinking that you're most likely in some sort of a simulation because you are unable to pick them apart yourself. Decaying routine and boredom is the death of the mind and soul. Ultimately what helped me is when I decided that I was not defined by my crushing job, lack of friends/romance. Seek inwards brotha. Then you'll come to terms with what you're really passionate about. For me it was writing. Discover some valuable pastimes as well as they act as a counter to the depressing monotony. For instance I'm fond of reading novels, watching movies and playing vidya etc. Hope this assists you in some way.
