Same here. Always have had an easy time with things that involved working with my hands. Earliest memories are with my dad working on cars and motorbikes or assembling furniture
It's a good skill to have

Damn, I love assembling furniture.
>bought a $2500, old lathe on craigslist
>drive six hours to pick it up
>set it up in shed, hook up 3-phase power just for it
>do nothing with it for six months

It's the oddly satisfying peg A into hole B but everything fits so nicely for me.

Dude just cut shit for fun. My room mate brought home an old bandsaw from his grandfathers house a while back and I just started cutting logs and eventually made some coasters and some address signs with it

But it's such a pain in the ass to get it set up. I spend about half an hour lining up the workpiece to the tolerance needed to not fuck up my toolsteel. It seems like such a waste of time to go through all that without having a goal. I should get a welding machine if I want to make things, so I could both add and subtract metal.
