>3rd year chemistry major
> still has no idea how to balance an equation
Does it actually matter? If its on a test I either guess right or get it wrong, but still get mostly A's. I mean if it comes up IRL I can just use a balancing calculator, but I still feel retarded. I will work the question for 20 minutes and never get it right. Is there a trick or something? Professors try to explain it to me but I just pic related every time.
> still has no idea how to balance an equation
I remember doing that in 8th grade.
I also remember I was very good at it.
It's too bad I have no aspirations, else I'd be a famous chemist by now.

Linear algebra, namely an understanding of systems of equations will help
x-2 = 2
x = 2 - 2
x = 0
x + 0 = 0
Just replace this with whatever numbers they give you

How did you get to third year? To be honest balancing chemical equations isn't really important past first year, thermodynamics, group theory and other stuff is more important.

I honestly have no idea what chem majors do past first year
I felt like I pretty much learned everything about chem anyone would ever need to know after my intro class

Goes into more specific research areas which often overlap with physics and biochem, that's why employers usually ask for physics/ chemistry majors for research type jobs.
