The two are interlinked but the UK really has a declining society. It's no longer a national community, it's a community of communities. Tradition has collapsed. Along with the rest of the West as well, we are becoming increasingly driven by consumerism. Nobody has to socialise with their neighbours anymore because they can pretend to on social media or drive elsewhere. We claim to have fixed so much that was wrong with society and yet we have legions of (mostly) men growing into their twenties who feel alone and friendless. But now they are able to sit in their rooms all day and still get stimulation.
It fucking sucks and there's nothing that seems capable of solving it.
That was the one thing I learnt when visiting third world countries. It broke my heart because many of the people I met were intelligent enough to be doctors, scientists, writers (many were trying to be in their little towns and villages). They were constantly reminded of how rich we Europeans are, the girls were reminded how beautiful white women are, how better our opportunities are. Why are they happy anyway? Because they are still connected with each other and feel pride in their community.
