That happened to me once. Nice qt at college pity invited me. I was so nervous that, after she asked me to come, I could barely even accept and thank her. I could only kind of whisper.
I accepted because I was grateful for her compassion, and felt obligated to return her kindness. It was a terrible experience, and I kind of made the whole party uncomfortable for everybody. In retrospect, I should have recognized that a college party was currently out of my depth, and I should just have politely declined, honestly citing my reason as being social anxiety.

smoking is always a good thing as dumb as that may sound. it doesnt look bad if you're alone outside and people will always join you. From there its so easy to make conversation.
once you get booze in you, you'll become looser. Dont worry about being awkward, first off people dont give a shit about you, they are too busy worrying about themselves and two, they are drunk as fuck trying to have a good time.
You'll probably go to this party and a couple more and be done with them, they arent that amazing.

If its a big house party it'll probably just be loud conversation, but i'm guessing it'll be kinda small and pretty mellow. Just go with the flow, drink and hang out on the couch if you don't feel like talking. People who are 25 and up are super easy to make conversation with.

You should hope that everyone is getting drunk, then you get drunk too and it might be fun.
Your coworker won't bother trying to babysit you, he probably assumes that you can do normal socializing like everyone else so you're on your own.
If everyone is drunk you can get small conversations but make sure to censor yourself, don't let anyone know that you're a robot.
You don't need to lie but don't bring anything up, even if you could get cool attention from it.
