Seeing as though gender =/= sex, it's pretty much a fact that gender does not have a concrete number and category. Sex is biological, but gender is mental and thus any perceptions we have of it is a social construct. So yeah, the "2 genders" meme is great and all, but I'm not going to diss someone because they feel a different way in their head. Not everyone fits into the same little box.

Many intersex people identify with male or female, unless they feel that neither can completely define them, leading them to identify as both or something else.

Two. Male and Female. The rare genetic diseases aren't common enough that they need to be counted. It's like warning people that there is honey in something. My sister is allergic to honey, but no store screams, "We have honey based products." They say stuff like "We have peanut based products" due to it being common. When something is so insignificant that it falls two standard deviations or more away from the median, it's not that big of a deal.
