Pretty much depends on what exactly you're doing. I had a job operating a plastic blow molding machine a while back and it wasn't TOO awful. There'll be a lot of physical labor obviously and things can be pretty monotonous at times but at least the pay is usually a bit better than what you'd get working in retail or flipping burgers. Yep, almost all types of factory work will destroy your back. I don't get why they don't put stools or something next to assembly lines, would make my day a lot better. Ausfag here. Suppose to work from 13:35 to 21:55 but usually finish around 20:00. Since im permanent I get paid as if I finish at 21:55 everyday unless I do over time which is paid at double time. My rate of pay is $31 aud an hour. During those times I have an unpaid 30 min break and a total of 55minute paid break. Hows the conditions in the rest of the world? I kill chickens btw so its not very pretty.

honestly it is all in the attitude, if you are allowed to talk to your coworkers and have the social capacity to then your job can be a chill place to hang out for 10 hours a day while you do the same task over and over, otherwise it will be miserable. Alternatively if they let you listen to music (most factories wont for safety reasons) you can just zone out and basically get paid to relax.

I worked in a casino counting money, and this describes it pretty well. It was monotonous work, just running hundreds upon hundreds of stacks of bills through a counter and then sorter. No sitting allowed while near the money either.
Luckily my co-workers were all extremely sociable people. I didn't talk but the were still fun to be around and always tried to include me in their conversations. Once we figured out how to sneak iPods into thebcoubting room, I literally got paid to stand around shooting the shit with friends and listening to music and didn't even notice the repetitive actions of my actual job

I work in a factory. I load up all those sandwiches and gas station food into crates and ship them out. Mainly in New York and New Jersey. Everyone is basically some sort of Spanish and they just grunt and point when they need my assistance. Its confusing. Its also gunna make you sore all over. Especially in your back. I get $10 an hour and its a Union job. Its tedious and confusing because of the spics, but I enjoy it. I keep to myself mostly and the Spanish girls always stare at me and are overly nice. I rate it a 7/10.

It's either easy but incredibly dull, tedious work that'll leave you feeling soulless after eight hours, or it's fast-paced and stressful as fuck as you try to keep up with a machine spitting out pieces at a rate that doesn't allow any fuck-ups or you fall behind.

I doubt stools would help. For one they're backless, so there's still the problem of no support. Also, most human factory work involves the person being hunched over the assembly line/workstation, so even chairs with backs would be negated because you have to hunch over to do the work.

I've worked in multiple factories and I'll tell you now that it's going to make you want to kill yourself. I really reccommend getting the forklift certification to do that or try to get at the end of the production line so you're boxing and organizing instead of one small repetitive thing a thousand times every day.

I can get on indeed right now and look at what's available, and any manufacturing job will either refuse to list their offerings and wage, or they'll tell you it's $8-$10 dollars per hour. That's for machine operators, forklift drivers, the whole gamut.
