Agreed on that. A lot of people disliked it because they went in expecting a goofy cartoon comedy, not a realistic depiction of depression and self destructive behavior.

Oh and the other one I saw was one where a guy came out as gay to his mom, she wouldn't believe him even after he left out gay porn in his room.

Maybe you should find a new hobby. I didn't enjoy NEET-dom until I bought a midi controller keyboard and started producing music. Lots of fun and comfy as hell.
You could also try out painting. What I like to do sometimes is grab my supplies and head up to the mountain. I usually find a beautiful lake and start painting.
You just need to find stuff to do.
Pretty good robot viewing imo

Note: Show gets shitty by Season 3 and 4 but first 2 seasons are GOAT.

LOST isn't really something I'd think of in connection with r9k, but a few years back when I was at the lowest point in my life, totally alone and having just left a job because of chronic depression and anxiety, being a 26yo kissless virgin who at that point still held out hope for love... I discovered LOST and it changed my life for the better.
In the first 'Locke' centric episode, 'Walkabout', you see this guy who at that point you're assuming is supposed to be some stereotypical highly-competent military dude...and in one episode you see the brutal truth of his life revealed. How helpless, lonely, and messed up this guy is. Final scene of that episode really sucked me in and I loved the whole series.
Most robots are early-mid 20's and LOST is pretty much the perfect series for people this age, one of the major themes being about learning to overcome the pain and shit endured when you were younger and less conscious or capable of defending yourself. It's not a 'dumb' show either - it does use a lot of overused tv tropes and there's a lot of normie bullshit, but at its heart it's very 'literary' in that you have to really think about what an episode is saying a lot of the time. First two seasons especially are really full of spirituality.
