They call it 'High Functioning Autism" but after my years of study in the pepe autism arts(I even browsed wrongplanet forums) it doesn't affect everyone the same even though they call it one disorder.
Basically OP, your autism is worse than his. Autism doesn't exactly inhibit relationships, it just determines personality. If you are socializing with people on a daily basis and they are not openly driving you away you're doing well enough that things like friends are possible.
Girlfriend is just another type of friend that requires you to level affection. Since you're here, you can't even into friends that well and expect to get a level in girlfriend.
