If you're in a city think about being a doorman/lobby drone. Really comfy in my experience.
if you get decent at 3d modeling you can sell stuff on second life's marketplace. you can probably make 1k+ a month with effort. i just started and i'm pretty lazy, but i managed to make 500+ last month. it's pretty good for starting out, or for some side money.
you can torrent zbrush for sculpting, and blender is free for 3d modeling. there are lots of free tutorials on around the internet, like youtube.
