Easiest way to get friends is thru a common interest or activity. And a bit of luck and coincidence. There really isn't more to it. Oh and try to have a somewhat likeable personality.

You have to go to places where people are expected to mingle like group bike rides or rock climbing or wine tasting or networking events. You just go to a place where no one knows anyone and talk to randos until you get a good one, then you hang on.
I have a friend I met when he joined a meetup group I started for discussing philosophy. Meetups are great.

>go to most crowded freeway in town

>place gun barrel in mouth

Working at cafes and starbucks has worked for me. Coffee shops, independent or corporate hore the weirdest people so my autism goes unnoticed.

Like anon said, joining group activities for things you actually enjoy seems to work pretty well, it's easier than to be expected to interact with people you have nothing in common with.
I wanted to meet new people after graduating hs and I joined a spanish class since I have a boner for languages. We'll see if this will work out. Even if I don't meet cool people at least I'll be doing something I like.
