There are some who play for the first reason and some who play for the second. Just like there are guys who I would say actually like vidya, and others who only play shit like FIFA and Forza. You can really only judge on an individual basis. Unfortunately, the attentionwhores and their white knights are so much more noticeable that it screws up our perception of girls that play video games all together. If I was a girl but had the same taste in vidya, I wouldn't reveal my gender at all.
