you actually have neurons in your gastrointestinal system and it produces a large amount of the serotonin and dopamine in your body.

on a side note, i've been stressed about my parents finding out that i've been kicked out of school and it's causing my eczema to flair up and my sensitive gag reflex to act up again

so yes, mental state can cause physical problems.
