If you want some actual occult approved defence against spirits tie a red string around yourself
Basically the colour red and circles form a great ward against spirits and the easiest way to incorporate both is string which is why red string is used in a lot of rituals

Also an imperfect circle and an oval are two separate entities entirely but since my own testimonial is debatable I'll reiterate the explanation I heard in that summoning thread
The guy who was asking about summoning and protection was asking about how if you tied a string around you ie waist or arm it wouldn't form a perfect circle however in the thread the dude explaining how to summon mentioned that it wouldn't matter as long as the seal ie string or whatever else you used was constructed with the intention of being a circle such as you've done your best to make it look right and it's difficult to construe as another shape it will work

Salt is another great thing to use as it is also a ward, can be used to make circles and can also be dyed red
You could carry a salt pouch and if you were especially worried sprinkle it in a circle around you or in a line across a door or entry way to prevent spirits from entering
You could also look into printing yourself a seal of metatron, I believe it's another anti evil sigil but I could be wrong

The reason people normally salt doors is because they're usually open which would allow a spirit in, I doubt you'd have your window open that much or that a spirit would even come and go through one as many of the common entities that attack through a window you wouldn't likely encounter as they're super specific except for banshees but you can't stop them
Also about salt funny story, one time I was making a salt pentagram and I had bought one of the big long bottles of table salt, I ran out of that shit with the outer circle just about complete and the circle would have been just about wide enough to stand in with a layer of visible salt so yes you do need quite a bit
As I've seen in all depictions of salting the salt is usually placed quite heavily so that it is visibly thick

I have placebo charms that protect me. I used to carry them around but then I realized the power is in the charm and visualization is the same as actually holding one. Just think about your knife next time without bringing it. You may need to develop meditation and visualization ability but just practice. It's very effective and now I can carry all the charms I can memorize and call on them as needed. Gestures and prayers are powerful too. It must work because the demons still haven't got me.
