who /unironically listen to rap/ here
i can't stop, they say your musical tastes form in the early years and stay with you for life. it's so true, when i was like 12-13 i started listening to rap and filled up a ipod nano with tons of it and just listened all day. now i listen to shitty trap, drug rap and meme rap for my fix
objectively i know it's shit but my ears like hearing a beat and words rhyming.
Kick a door nigga is fire

I love Rap too, it's a generational thing, Rap music has been popularized massively in the 90s and 00s, I listen to a lot of recent stuff, Joey Purp and YGs new albums are really good if you haven't checked them out.

This is the best EP out there.
Mathematical and linguistic abilities are linked to the complexity of music it takes to satisfy you. What I'm saying is that you're fucking retarded, OP.
>>29697270
is there any PROOF??
>>29698521
Some hip hop is pretty complex though. People that think listening to "intelligent" music makes them smart are fucking retarded.
Let me guess, metal kid?
>>29697013
You sound exactly like me
You might like these. My favorite mixtapes right now:

It's not that listening to complex music makes you smart, it's that being smart makes you enjoy complex music (unless you're forcing yourself to).
The vast majority of hip hop is not very complex. Some is, and I do actually listen to some hip hop, but Gucci sure isn't.
But neah, I'm not into metal. I'm into a lot of stuff, but metal certainly is not one of them. I see why you'd say that though. >muh complex music more advanced than classical
>>29697013
>they say your musical tastes form in the early years and stay with you for life
I don't know many people my age that still listen to Linkin Park.
>>29698616
I get the idea you are referring to, it's just not a good way to judge whether something is worth listening to. You'll probably find most of the most intelligent people alive have really shitty music taste.
>>29698695
You shouldn't judge music solely on its complexity, but I can assume that OP is literally stupid if he spends all his time listening to Gucci-tier shit. And like someone said earlier, 'I don't know anyone that still listens to Link in Park.' Likewise, nor do I. Grew out of it. I also don't listen to Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, or Green Day. My brain has developed such that I absolutely do not enjoy that on the same level anymore.
>>29698695
>You'll probably find most of the most intelligent people alive have really shitty music taste.
I think it's more likely that the intelligent people you run into don't invest much time in music so their tastes stay shitty.
>>29698568
You'll see fags on /sci/ that wank about classical music just to feel smart. I am the biggest STEM nerd on the planet, but my ego is very small and I can appreciate every genre except for classical music because it's just objectively boring as hell. My favorite genre would be meme rap.
>>29698785
I'd mostly agree with that, I don't really like the hip hop posted in this thread desu but was speaking more of hip hop in general.
Just been checking out Lil Ugly Mane because he seems to be pretty popular and he's actually pretty good. I always thought he was just another meme cloud rapper, but his production is amazing. Any other albums by him I should check out? (Heard Oblivion Access and didn't like it)

>>29698964
Yes. Literally the only merit this genre has is that people THINK it makes you smart.
>>29699134
What the fuck is wrong with you. Listen to Gustav Holst or Wagner and tell me that shit is boring. It makes me pumped.
>>29699134
You really should just explore classical music.
Try listening to Erik Satie's Gymnopedies. It's good entry level because it'll show you some of the emotion that Art music can evoke

I was raised on mostly hip-hop and some rock
I still have a fondness for the hip-hop / r&b I heard back in the day but I do not enjoy listening to any rap besides that
You must just have a low IQ because that shit is dooky
Seriously a lot of people with the childish opinion that rap and hip hop are bad genres are retarded. The album alone convinced me that rap music can not only can have actual meaning and nice lyrics, it's also nice to listen to. Seriously a lot of rap music today is way more artistic and complex than whatever alternative music there is now.
