I got all my injuries at rugby but less every than your story.
Messed up my back and neck multiple times but the coaches wouldn't believe me and I was forced to play after a week. The pain came back as strong as ever the moment I began to run.
Quit and I've never looked back, although I do get asked to rejoin quite a lot by teachers which is uncomfortable.
