Finally, I'm gonna be an expert on memes!
>Memes are now "funny internet images"
>the real meaning of "Meme" will be lost forever

You have to learn from the masters themselves
You cannot study memes in a university, you must seem out the great monks of northern Europe
This is just another example that we are living in the New Meme Era, (or Meme Renaissance if you will). A time where memes have become so well developed that people everywhere know of them, and as a result, everyone is trying to come up with new memes
A good example is found in the pokemon franchise, which is about to release its 7th generation
So far, we've had 3 pokemon revealed that caused a meme.
1 Yungoos, which is seen as the Donald Trump pokemon. The similarity? they both have yellow hair
2 Rowlet, commonly linked wtih Roothoot which was a fakemon based on already known leaked info about Rowlet, but people still claim the one that drew it had inside info
3 Togedemaru which is an electric/steel hedgehog. people link it with Sonichu, completely ignoring that every gen of pokemon has an electric rodent or roden-looking pokemon, so a hedgehog was only a question of time
All these are memes that are completely wrong, but people still insist on meming them
This was not the case with Gen7 3 years ago

Are you supposed to create a new meme or study an existing one?

Memes are a metaphysical entity, like Platonic forms. It's true, an ascetic life is required in order to gain glimpses of them, but at the end of the day one must abandon asceticism if one wishes to return to the cave and banish the shadows from the minds of the chained.
