I remember how wow used to have an actual community. Before EVERYONE decided to be that one sarcastic douche bag WEED LMAO tier player.There is no good banter. Dead silence is preferred to said douche bagery.
They completely fucked up the rarity of gear along with the effort and memories behind it. Everything became cheap. They made it a cake walk to get end game characters. Remember when if you skipped quests you could be completely fucked with nowhere to go? Hell, if memory serves you can buy max level toons from blizzard outright now.
Don't even get me started on what pvp became.
But the worst part is I still long for that golden age of online gaming even though it is never coming back

Counter strike, and WoW still exist, and there are still annoying ass kids, stoners, and foreigners playing, just like they always were.

I played Runescape as one of my main games through middle and into high school. I had some fascination with clans back then and frequented that section of the forums, where I eventually became the leader of a group of mid-large sized clans. We organized a clan war against a rival group on an unpopulated server, because they were capped at only 2000 players each. The fighting lasted all day as people kept returning until they ran out of equipment. It's a shame more games don't do large scale multiplayer like that.

If you were actually on the internet in the mid 00s you would see the differences. Small niche communities and sites are gone, protecting your IRL name and identity on sites is a thing of the past and now youtube requires your real name and making a facebook requires you to put in a real cell phone number to confirm a code, Counter Strike and WoW still exist but the communities for both are completely different especially WoW which is pretty much just a single player game now with no socialization, and the feds actually try to crack down on downloading sites now.
