I do apply myself in what I care about. I don't care what I do for a living because I don't have expensive tastes. I apply myself in trying to make friends because it's literally all I want in life. I try to make friends and they talk to me for a few days then it just goes dark. What am I supposed to do?

Agreed. Most of my friends and 'friends' talk to me because either (a) I know things about high-profit industries that we're involved in, (b) they think I am likely going places in life (other than an early grave, kek), (c) we can tell each other interesting things about current events, more or less the same reason people pay for newspapers or watch ads, or (d) they are just as lonely as I am. The few times I've needed actual emotional support from anyone have all ended in failure and depression. It's all phony.
