Reddit is a good place to hear gossip about the rest of the world and Internet (of which is to say they steal their information from other sources and contribute in no real way. Googlefu plus a different social networking site replaces reddit).

You can tell who the bullshitters and retards and trolls are just by looking at a page of their posting history - so if you ever go asking for some sort of advice you can tell if it's genuine/helpful or not.
Also it's an entirely customizable experience. You get to decide what pops up in your feed. If you want to be some edgy faggot, it''s not at all different from 4chan.
The AMAs are usually very interesting and funny, either on purpose or accidentally.

That's the worst part of reddit. The popular ideas stay on top all the time so people rarely see the more unique ones. 4chan everyone is on the same level, whether their idea is popular or not. Reddit popular ideas reinforce eachother, and new ones get downvoted or ignored to the ground.

The user base is generally pretty chill, they refrain from dark humor and respect other peoples feelings. They understand the value of political correctness and I find the highest voted comments are genuinely aggreable. Reddit is the embodiment of how all mature adults should behave
