AR-15s can be used for hunting small to medium game because the design is inherently accurate and the cartridge it fires is considered good enough for animals smaller than deer, but most people would rather have a dedicated bolt action rifle. There would be no point in carrying a rifle and having no training time with it, it's immature and the kind of irresponsibility you only see in very few gun owners
