Guys, I goofed. I went to the dentist the other day to get my teeth clean and x-ray'd and it turns out I have some cavities. Alright, not a big deal. So I made an appointment for a month later to get them fixed.

Now here's the problem: I don't know which of my teeth they're fixing nor how they intend to fix them. I'm disconcerted over the idea of getting caps or getting my front teeth drilled, so I'd at least like it to not be a surprise. I've only ever had fillings in the very back row of my mouth.

So is there a proper procedure for this or am I going to embarrass myself no matter what? Of course there's a number for the receptionist but I'm sure it'd look silly if I called and said, "umm, yeah, so can I talk to the dentist who probably already told me exactly what's going to happen?". Help a fellow autist out please.

You'll just have to put on the mashk

I know you're probably memeing but, to clarify, I am getting nitrous and would have zero anxiety getting my teeth broken down while I'm in the chair. What makes me nervous though is the month leading up to that, throughout which I'll know nothing.

A dentist would normally give you all the details in the initial visit. That's really strange that you don't even know which teeth have the cavities.

I guess maybe you should have asked. Most likely it'll just be fillings, though.

Dude just call. They'll ask for your name, then they'll look at the record of your last visit. Just tell them you want to know which teeth they'll be fixing because you aren't sure.

Judging from my experience, they won't speak of what or where they're going to drill very much unless you outright ask them what they're doing. Let them do their thing, they'll instruct you. Try to remain perfectly still. A few uncomfortable minutes later you're done, it's really not too bad. I never want to do it again, though I get some kind of sick pleasure out of it.

>know I have cavities
>no money to fix 'em
meh, I'm not too worried about it, the one I can run my tongue over stays about the same width.

Having the back ones filled in was actually pretty neat. It never hurt and felt like having unusually smooth and strong new teeth. Anything beyond fillings I dunno though; I've heard root canals suck.

Ever had an infected breach?

Holy fuck, morphine couldn't kill that pain. I remember being about 14 and fucking writhing in the backseat of a car at a drive-in theater, wound up with a morphine addiction thanks to some old lady giving me a bottle.

Worst pain of my life was the extraction, now I have serious dental anxiety. Apparently there's a note in my record, dentists usually have backup when they plan to do painful work.

I had some cavities filled a month or two ago.

Was an appointment made? If not, you may want to consult the dentist and book one. From that point on it's routine procedure for them. They freeze your mouth and fill where the X-ray shows the cavities.

I'll just kill myself when that happens.
Problem solved.

Dude please read the first fucking paragraph. I'm not scared of going to the dentist; I'm scared of talking to them.
>>
Don't be scared of drilling no matter where in the mouth it is. You'll get a local anesthesia. I drilled in my front teeth, no big deal. It's uncomfortable but it's quite quickly over.

This is good advice, actually..

You were the one who took pills that didn't even kill the pain fuckwagon.

I had a filling plop out of a molar about 5 years ago. I ignored it like a retard.

Sure enough, it got infected earlier this year and then one day while chewing on a piece of gum mostly on the good side of my mouth I switched over to the side of my mouth with the bad tooth and *pop*.

I don't know if I literally touched a nerve or what but I was literally in the worst pain of my life for the next 72 hours. I couldn't fully close my mouth which means that I couldn't sleep. If I feel asleep and closed my jaw, the pain would jolt me awake. I was drinking and swishing ice-cold water and eating tylenol like it was candy.

I've had ingrown toenails that got infected and had to be removed and then I later dropped an orange on my fresh toe-hole, I once sliced off a corner of the tip of a finger and had to have it grow back for months, I don't quite remember flying off my bike and getting a concussion & waking up on a stretcher - none of those things were as a bad that the pain I was feeling my tooth.

Anyways, they had to pull the tooth, it cost like 2k$ since they also did my wisdom teeth at the same time. At least I had some very pleasant killers.

Point is, brush your god damn teeth kids and go get checked up and don't put off any health issues.

I was 14 and had no concept of addiction, fucktard.

Doesn't take much morphine to get hooked, especially in liquid form and in a small person.

Fucking scumbag teeth, man.

I understand the advantage behind feeling pain if you break them, but holy fuck. C'mon.

Millions of years of evolution and we have timebombs in our mouths while lesser animals regrow teeth for life. The fuck.

>Hello this is Anon McRobot, I was there the other day for a check-up. I was wondering if you could tell me which teeth exactly need fillings?

That's all there is to it my man
>>
>>29663796
Yeah, and on top of that I live in a magical socialist utopia where we have universal healthcare and so going to the hospital or clinic doesn't cost me anything - but yet I have a painful emergency involving my teeth and THAT costs me (or my parents, rather) thousands of dollars.

I don't get why teeth are excluded from health care? They're easily one of the most fuck upable parts of the human body. Not just through eating sugar and not brushing your teeth but just like slipping on a fucking banana peel or something and busting all your mouth open.
>>
>>29663725
You only really need to brush once per day as long as you floss too. Brushing helps your breath more than your teeth.
