This is horrible advice. Most women who say that have no idea how bluntly men talk to each other when women aren't around, and would feel extremely offended or threatened if men actually spoke to them like they speak to other men.

You treat women like children. Make sure not to say things they would find scary or mean (not specifically mean to them but "mean" about anything), don't use big words, don't talk about events or ideas that aren't pop culture, always assume they have little common knowledge, and always try to include them in the conversation even if they don't know anything about the topic
