For me, it's not that I couldn't fap to a girl I genuinely like, it's just that if we're just friends, then it's better not; I don't want to make myself obsess over her even more.

But yeah, people do that now. They keep their friends and lovers separate. They try to keep their friends in the long run, but their lovers are temporary and change often, and they try to not get too attached.
