I guess I'm more of a free-market socialist. SO WE ARE AT ODDS kek! The premise behind Georgism makes sense to me. I think natural resource exploitations could mostly be nationalized. Efficient exploitation of natural resources is already a matter of national interest. It's probably something the government can be trusted to do (as long as there are international struggles anyway?).
I just wish everyone's basic needs would be taken care of (somehow). The rest can be near anarchy for all I care. Socialism is a lot of wishful thinking though, I get that. But there are tons of ideas to make it work better than before. I understand the appeal of massively reducing government power though...

I understand that in practice socialism, fascism, or whatever other "revolutionary" forms of government do not displace the elite. They stay in power and they are very greedy. It's very hard to get rid of them. I often think of forms of socialism that would be very transparent and distributed. But it will probably never happen. Reducing the need for government would be quite an accomplishment.
The thing that worries me with Georgism is that natural resources aren't THAT large a part of the economy (but that's a large part of how they rip off everyone for sure). Eventually it might become insufficient to finance a fair basic income for everyone as the primary sector truly becomes an insignificant part of the economy? I guess pretty much everything ultimately comes from natural resources though, but still. I can't quite picture a georgist society in my head yet.

It seems like the universal income might be a bit low (considering people might need expensive healthcare)? As it is the government is creating and protecting a lot of jobs. Shit jobs that don't produce anything useful and that people hate, but still, people make a living. It could be much better (especially if people are more free to chose their jobs (thanks to universal income), or work for themselves), but I'd be worried about the transition period. Our economy is massively engineered by the government and I don't have as much faith in the free market (in this modern technological age) as some people have. Not unless ALL of the people's basic needs are covered and the low points don't harm people too much.
