The count down begins. I may have the day off, but tomorrow I have to wake up at 5, force feed, and be at work by 6 so I can stock non-stop until 4PM without a break. It's 3 in the afternoon now. As every hour passes, my mood will get lower and lower, and then it will reach midnight, I still won't be tired enough to sleep, and I'll be sitting doing nothing but dreading the upcoming shift in a few hours. Then when it's all over, and I'm finally done, I'll come home, fall asleep, and waste the rest of my evening.
I think customers take it easy on me because I appear retarded (how I look and talk, I guess.) Most of them are very nice to me, even the old ones.
There are a few regular customers who seem like something is wrong with them, like maybe they live in group homes but are independent enough to shop for themselves. One is a soft-spoken, middle aged bald guy who is obsessed with off-brand diet drinks. Because my store is a shithole we're always out of whatever he wants. Makes me feel bad whenever I check and we don't have any, and he is so polite to me about it.

I was lefty and liberal as fuck before I worked there, but the longer I stayed the more racist I became. It was never whitey stealing from and exploiting charity, it was almost exclusively pakis with a couple of blacks thrown in for good measure.
Work at mcd's as opener. For the last 2 years I've been waking up at 3am for my 4:30am-1pm shift and I'm monday-friday. I also live in a small town of 1800 on a US highway. Its something to get used to. I've enjoyed it. I have no real social life except going to the bar every other night with my only friend, who's moving soon. I actually enjoy my work, it's not super fast paced as the McDonalds in the city, and I don't work with obnoxious ghetto people. It sounds cliche, but the staff I work with feels kind of like a family. Its the only place that I can honestly say that if I left people would genuinely miss me for a little while. No rude people, and I've developed very good customer service skills (i.e sucking up and knowing the right thing to say). Theres people I hate working with, but talking shit about them behind their back to everyone else who hates them is almost worth it.
My life is stagnant and boring but thats okay. I have things I like. An apartment, electricity, car, internet, food, etc. Doesn't take much for me to be happy.

Federal regulations control how much you drive in a day (11 hours) and then regulated time you're supposed to sleep. It actually really fucks things up though. Granted its not likely you will be fucking around on 4chan for 7+ hours, but when you're waiting for a load or waiting to be loaded at the shipper (which can be hours or even half a day. Every place is different) and assuming your not in bumfuck nowhere in the mountains, you can freely use the internet or even sleep while they're loading your truck, or you can use it for a few hours before you sleep.
