Been relaxing on NEETbux, been working on removing my issues one by one. Working on losing weight now, down 5 kilos is the last 2-3 weeks.

Of course, but it's better not to focus on them. I'm not saying I'm great at avoiding them, but it's possible.

age: 27

>What have you been up to recently?
Trying to disable Secure Boot on shitty Windows 8 to no avail.
>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
Nothing makes me think of the past.
>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
Not at all. I had very few friends as a teenager and none as a kid.
>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
Oh fuck yes. But we all do don't we?
>>
>>29632337
I think that's partly why it's so hard for me to make new friends but I think another part is that there just aren't the opportunities.

How exactly do I go about joining a tabletop group and what would r9ks advice be?
>>
>>29632337

Out of interest is it actually worth it trying to work out past the age of 25?

I need this advice too. I'd like to join a tabletop group but I don't want to by "that guy" /tg/ always talks about.

I'm more terrified of forgetting the rules or coming up with some embarrassing character. I've heard of great friendships developing through d and d too though and a big part of me just can't be fucked with video games anymore.

>>29632501
sure, you can get pretty fit even if you're in your 40's, I was fat most of my life and didn't lose most of my weight until I hit 28, over the past few years I have lost 100 pounds and gained a good amount of muscle, I have honestly never looked better in my life and I'm 31 years old now. That doesn't seem to be helping me get any girls though, I guess that pic is pretty accurate.

27 years old here, accountant

>What have you been up to recently?
Just work, getting my gym set up and trying to meet girls in OKC

>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
Shows from the 90's like Clarissa and pete & pete oh and best of all times Dragon ball Z

>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
Not really, where i work I have met a lot of cool people but no gf ;_;

>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
Just not starting earlier, but in a way it was for the best I guess

I'm 29

>What have you been up to recently?
Unemployed as of December last year, lost my park ranger job due injury from car accident. Living of welfare, volunteering as a office assistant at a charity, learning admin skills so I can get a office job. Started going to night theater class and I draw a lot.
>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
Watching old Scooby Doo and Flit Stones, Super Soaker 50, Monster in My Pocket, Might Max.
>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
Easier actually. I can spot other losers and befriend them.
>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
Yes. I should of stopped smoking weed. But instead I got shit grades and I didn't get to go to Drama school while living for free at home with my folks.

I can relate, one of my friends is married and has two little girls, I also wish to have a family but I need to meet girls first

30 here.

Im thinking about falling for the marriage meme. We've been together for nearly 3 years and I'm thinking its time. But I'm not exactly sure how to do it? Ive read about getting some cheapo $50 ring (that still looks nice) and proposing with that. Then, we go together to shop for the real ring. That works, right?

26/M

>>What have you been up to recently?

Wagecuck here. Working 45+hrs per week, but glad to get a long weekend this weekend.

Also playing Overwatch and really like it.

>>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?

I really miss college, and the times I had with friends there.

Seriously the best times of my life to date were playing Modern Warfare 2 on the 360 going for nukes and teaming up with friends. Sunk 500 hours into that game over the course of a year and don't regret an instant of it.

I miss listening to good Kid Cudi, he helped me through some dark times.

Also rainy days make me feel nostalgic. I used to get the day off work when it would rain so some of my coziest days were spent in my old apartment with the rain drizzling outside.

>>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?

Way, way more difficult. School & colleges force you into social interaction. You're around people in your age group all day long, so you're bound to make acquaintances and friends.

Once you enter the work force the age gaps can be tremendous and also interests. It's very difficult to meet people, especially if you're not into any type of club scene, which I'm not.

>>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?

Yes. I was always too shy to date or have a girlfriend when I was in middle / high school, so I completely missed out on the teen love thing.

I was too much of a loaner to hang out with in-school friends outside of class, so I missed that camaraderie and bonding that would have evolved into lifelong friendship.

I took a job out of college due to convenience as opposed to pressuring myself into finding something I love to do, so for the time being I'm stuck at a only decent paying job that I really don't enjoy.

I wish I would have spent more time with mom before she passed away.

I dont intend to get like a candy ring. I just figure, its something shes wearing for the rest of her life. Wouldn't she at least want to give advice on it?
>>
>>29633092
Hey man, listen to me with experience.

You can do 1 of 2 things:

1) Tell your girl to pick out a ring for the day you pop the question. Just sit down together and look at rings, feel out her size and style, etc. Buy that ring and use it to propose.

2) Use your method. Buy a pretty CZ ring and use it to propose. You can get something super nice in the $50 range, no joke.

Either way is fine. If your girl is more materialistic, use option 1. If you and girl are super close and deeply love each other, option 2 is just fine.

>>
>>29633151
3) Don't marry a whore?
>>
>>29633151
Forgot to add, I went with option 2.

Spent $50 on the ring to pop the question. After we got married, we bought her the ring she really wanted. No pressure and she was super happy because she had all the time in the world to pick out what she wanted and what we could afford.

>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
It's easier to find non-shallow people in their late 20's i think. Old enough to not be a cunt, young enough to want something with their lives. I'm more worried about wasting my late 20's than I'm sad about wasting my teens.

>missed out on teen love because I was too shy in middle school and high school

I think the nice thing about teen love is that it's the one time you really get to see a girl at her most innocent. At least, for those of us in our late 20s we can remember a time when regular use of hardcore porn wasn't something really openly spoken about or approved of, and certainly wasn't as messed up as it is today.

As a result I feel like girls when I was growing up were comparatively more innocent than they are these days.

I remember listening to a radio show with the topic "Can you have sex without love?"
"More people are having sex with their friends, with no intention of getting into a relationship."

It was like this new and strange phenomenon. And it wasn't some weird christian channel, it happened 2004ish in progressive Sweden.

>What have you been up to recently?
I transferred $150 to a bitcoin market to buy heroin. At the moment I'm almost clean (only 10mg Valium a day to stay functional), but I have a too high tolerance to my usual drugs to enjoy them at a reasonable dose. I also started to take my antidepressants again. I'll see how that goes. My brain chemistry must be all weird at the moment.
>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
Nothing, I have nothing good to look back on. My life has always been painful.
>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
Definitely, the gap between me and normal people widened every year. It doesn't help that I'm a degenerate junkie with few interests besides drugs and movies. My coworkers and boss oscillate between thinking I'm ridiculous and outright disliking me. I don't think there's anything dislikeable about me so maybe I'm just imagining the second part. I'm extremely sensitive to rejection IRL, but a huge attention whore online. I feel like I have no real personality but just play one of various roles depending on the environment and my mood. I'm not sure it's possible to get to know me, as there doesn't really seem to be anything there, at the core. I still crave attention and companionship. God is evil.
>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
Yes, I dropped out of college for mental health reasons and have no friends or acquaintances at all. What little contacts I had in my youth I let whither away. I also never experienced being loved, by a girl or otherwise.
>>

Maybe it's a cultural thing, but why do you need a ring to propose? Just ask her, and then you look for rings together, I mean you plan the wedding together too, you don't just buy it blindly. also, if you spend more than maybe 200$ on a fucking ring you're retarded and if your girl wants something more expensive, she's a dumb whore who will make your life miserable in the future.

I don't know anyone who does any drugs, except two guys who secretly smoke weed every other month. I bought drugs because I felt like I was losing my mind and wanted to kill myself, so I thought 'Might as well', followed by stim abuse that left me brain cucked for half a year. Now I only do psychs, opiates, benzos and sometimes heavy benzos with a nose of speed because that's pretty cool if you really want to be urself and feel okay. I'm not sure I'm addicted to anything in particular, I keep switching, but I get high at least 4 days a week (hopefully less once my ADs start working), so idk what I am.

It is going to suck when you start. Gains won't be good enough, it seems like everyone else has it figured out because there is big money industry around selling you their way.
But think of it like this. You're basically alone and isolated, it's about what you can do. Just keep doing it even if it seems hopeless. If you quit that little progress you made? Gone, you will lose it. Even little breaks of a short time period adds up and it feels like your starting over from the beginning all over again. Those gains will snow ball though so even when you're doing good it doesn't seem good enough to yourself, it's not a race it's an endurance contest you just have to keep at it.

Feels old, man. Not that I've ever done anything to "age" myself morally, nor have grown to feel older. Just.... the knowledge that time has passed, and less remains.

>What have you been up to recently?
Wasted my whole vacation to help parents repair their house.

>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
Being able to eat chocolate and drink coffee without getting reflux, and to eat icecream without it instantly appearing on my belly and ass.

>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
No, I've never made any friends. In school, later in highschool, and later yet in university a few people forced friendship on me bu just stalking me for days, but I've since gradually lost contact with those, and I haven't the knowledge, the ability, and perhaps the desire to find new ones.
Been pretty much by my own for about 3 years now, excepting the one highschool friend whom I chat with about vidya, and play on weekends sometimes.

>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
Oh, most definitely. Many romantic ones, a few professional ones, maybe hundreds of occasions where I embarrassed myself in situations that I could've distinguished myself instead.
I have a lot of these "walking down the street smiling and them you remember that one time" moments. I try to reason past them, whats done is done, but they do strike me still, if only for a minute.
Don't dwell on it, life has no greater purpose, you have no sacred mission. Avoid stress, avoid responsibility, avoid discomfort, and spend time on your hobbies.

Be safe, and be well, thats what matters.

But I am not a woman. Of all the things I did when young, the only ones I can'd do now are:

>go out with friends, since those all faded away from me
>eat whatever I want whenever I want

Thats it. There is nothing else that I've lost in the last decade.
I've gained much, living on my own, having spare money, getting wiser and colder so I am no longer an emotional wreck.
Basically my life is a very, very slow upwards progression. I am okay with that.
Life isn't a race, and its not a game that I have to win, I'll just minimize stress and pain and spend my time reading books, listening to music, watching shows and playing video games.
And posting on anonymous rageaholics board meetings, I guess.

Essentially what you just asked. The more expensive the ring, the higher the quality and better bragging rights. CZ's are pretty, but they're brittle and not super rugged like diamonds. Also sterling silver isn't very strong, fades easily, and can even warp.

Also there's the sheer fact you don't want the woman you marry to be embarrassed by her wedding ring. A wife bragging on her ring is the same as her bragging about you. The two go hand in hand. You don't want to be a cheapass on such an important thing.

25 M UK here.

>What have you been up to recently?
I've been busy at my job and with hunting for a different one. I've been on track with regularly lifting. I had some old pals come to stay over the weekend which was really great.
>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
Seeing old friends and easing back into the way we treat each other and our stupid jokes was really nice. I guess I get nostalgic about particular places I've travelled, sometimes a particular internet meme or thinking about old video games gives me nostalgia. To be honest, a lot of memories or old friendships I treat with distance and acceptance that I'll probably never re-experience them again, as there's no point in getting needy or upset about the past and stuff you can't dig up again.
>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
Yes, absolutely. Pretty much all my friendships are a result of propinquity rather than cause of a shared hobby or opportunistic getting along. I find friendship-making and network nigh impossible.
>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
Always. I don't feel like I squandered or rejected opportunities, but I invested a lot of time in friendships that ultimately fizzled out or turned sour which I'm regretful of. I'm realising that as I get older, a lot of doors are closing. I can't put off time anymore, or think I can take on so many things at once. I do regret a lot of dead time in my teens and early twenties staying in feeling totally paralysed and worrying about the future or at least not making the most of free time that could have been spent being productive. Once I hit my 25th birthday I've been making much better use of my time and moderating my free time better.
>>
>>29634257
>Essentially what you just asked.
No, not really, what I asked was how much faster does your car go when you pump it with $50000 gas with diamond flakes in it, then when you pump it with regular gas, and does it perform any extra functions such as flying, shooting missiles, or what?

Yes, I couldn't make friends since I turned 16 so making new ones now is out of order

Yes, all the teenage partying and having fun and uni stuff that I missed.

>finally getting married in November after being engaged for eight years
>guest list is heavily weighted against me due to not having any friends to invite
>catering alone costs $2000 and that's only for 40 people

At least my mom offered to help. But seeing as this is the first wedding in my family (since I assume my grandparents'), my mom was expecting it to cost somewhere around $100-$300...

Otherwise,

>got a TAship for online courses
>getting more work for proofreading service
>now making $50k a year without needing to leave the house
>grocery/food delivery options are increasing steadily in my area
>hermit status imminent
>>
>>29634295
That's not the same analogy at all, anon. You're asking why would you spend more than shit-tier money on a wedding ring. I told you why. Ignore the answer if you want, the choice is yours but the point still stands.

I won't touch on the fact that you asked a question that should be basic logic to any rationally thinking individual. If you want me to boil it down further:

>why buy your wife something nice?
>because girls like nice things.

or to put it in your weirdo logic:

>why put expensive gas in your car
>because it burns cleaner and gives better performance

Does that help you understand it better?
>>
>>29634368
Wow you're full blown normie, why the fuck do you even bother to come to /r9k/ of all boards?
>>
>>29634377
>>because it burns cleaner and gives better performance
So your wife performs better with a more expensive ring, that's what I was asking in the first place.

So the followup to that would be: why not just buy an actual whore?
>>

>>
>>29634566
Well you've got sterling silver, stainless steel, titanium, tungsten carbide, silver, gold, platinum.

The "mm" is usually the width of the band, as in how wide it sits across the top of your finger.

Then there's size, obviously.

If I recall correctly when we were shopping, stainless steel and titanium run the risk of being irremovable in an emergency situation. Say you get stung by a bee and your hand swells up before you have the chance to remove your ring. You may lose a finger. Gold, silver, and platinum can easily be cut because they're soft metals. Tungsten Carbide is pre-fractured by design so it can break under stress if it has to be removed in an emergency.

Does that answer your question?

>enjoy your life of solitude, anon.
And we're back to avoiding the question. Do we need to go through the entire thing again?

Put myself in uncomfortable social situations to grow in that regard. I want to break out of my trajectory of being a loner and find a way of seeing joy in spending time with others. I'm fine being alone but life holds more opportunities when you're able to connect and communicate.

>What have you been up to recently?
I have become a true wage slave with everything included. I am so tired after work that I cannot find energy to do anything else than eating, having crippling anxiety and sleeping. I am eating more calories than I actually need, so I am slowly but surely getting fatter, weaker, lonelier and more bitter. It is a vicious circle. I am not really depressed, I am just unhappy and bitter and so exhausted that I cannot even find energy to cry.
>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
Black Eyed Peas - I gotta feeling was strangely the last thing that made nostalgic. I hate that song, but I was 22 when it was popular and I actually had some pretty good nights at clubs when they were playing that song.
>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
Oh God, it used to be hard, now it is impossible. I moved to a city I have never been to because I got a job I am actually qualified for there. I only see people at work and work is an endless rat race. I do not trust anybody and it is a middle management position, so make no mistake -You work alone and die alone. I feel so alone.
>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
Of course, I feel it every single day. It is not like I totally missed all of them strictly objectively speaking, I just wanted more and better opportunities. I am so narcissistic that I think I could have gotten more beautiful women than I actually got. Being a failed normie/slightly strange person the balanced truth would probably be that realistically speaking I might have gotten one, maybe at most two, good-looking women to fuck me for a shorter period before it would have ended in them finding something more suitable and I would still be here today sitting alone writing this shitty reply.

It's been a year of NEETdom since I've "travelled the world" for two years, being in dead end relationships and stuff. Well, at least I learnt how to speak English """decently""".

So... I'm thinking of doing a two year masters in International Relations + Japanese, all paid by the gov't. But I'm a 26 years old southern european faggot.

Alright everyone. 25 here. Male. Belfast NI.

>What have you been up to recently?
Working away at my job as a retail supervisor. Pretty comfy job, hoping to be a manager soon. Broke off a 6 1/2 year relationship in March so I'm kinda struggling with that and if my ex-gf will have a role in my life as a friend or not.

>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?

I think so, but I also don't know what a 'real' friend is necessarily. I know lots of people but I don't know how many of them are friends.

Absolutely. I wish I had participated in more sports and worked out a lot more when I was younger. I wish I had taken gymnastics and a martial art. And yeah you're right. I might still have time to have children. I find it frustrating that I didn't start to develop this want until now.

Where in Southern Euro? Italy?

Also i think there is a pro to be said about moving away. New places mean that you get to really start over and reinvent. If I were you, I'd do it. If you have no other options and it's free? You might as well.

>What have you been up to recently?
Wake up, wageslave, come home, shitpost, play some 5+ year old games, fap, sleep
>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
Miss school days, or youth in general. Life was simpler then
>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
Yes, definitely. All my old friends, whom I knew since highschool moved on. We didn't have a fallout or anything. One day I woke up and was alone. I interact with co-workers normally, but it's far from the same thing
>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
Absolutely, but I don't dwell on it.

At this point I'm just waiting for my death.

>What have you been up to recently?
Preparing for a CPA module exam. I'm stressed more times than not.
>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
My surplus military rifle collection. Always wanted them when I was a kid playing Medal of Honor and now I have the means to. I also found my old grey gameboy.
>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
Of course, especially when you no longer go to school or play organized sports.
>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
Shit I don't think those opportunities existed even then. I try to forget about the past as much as I can.

Finishing college(Finally). Working on IT certs.

>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?

90's music, movies, and cartoons. Some of the state parks I went to with the boy scouts as a kid.

>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?

Yep. People don't tell you that nuclear families eventually replace friends groups. Your married friends might as well be living in another country, especially if they have kids.

>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?

Oh, definitely. I feel like if I'd majored in something useful and not gotten depressed in college, I could have graduated in 2006 and secured a position before the economy really shat the bed in 2008. Maybe I should have done some military service too.

You don't know how fucking depressing it is starting back at square one especially when I have technically done everything right:
>gone to social events and meet ups where I socialized and networked
>went to school and got two degrees with a 3.9 GPA
>did internships and got real practical experience in what I am doing
>got an actual job in my industry

Fuck I feel like such a fucking failure because had I known that I would of ended up eating this shit sandwich down the line I would of never went to university and instead joined the military or worked shit retail in some resort town being a hedonist because all this effort I put into working shit white collar being someone's bitch and going to school has not paid off and has done fuck all for me.

I just realised I miss my ex. 19 month relationship.

We still talk. After we broke up in February, I hooked up with someone else soon after. My ex contacted me n I basically said I'd met someone etc. etc. It didn't last long, turns out girl had loads of trust issues n psycho ex stole her phone as payback for her stealing his car to go to work one day (seriously). Literally the day after I told ex about her.

She got really upset over it. Sent me a huge message about how she loved me and all that.

Just recently she unblocked me to apologise. We've talked since then. She's just so nice. She's really smart, 100% non-degenerate (i was her first everything) and if she wasn't so career driven she'd be an amazing wife. My family loved her too.

Since we split up I've been sleeping about a bit. Had like 5 girls in 4 months, stuck with one for the last 2 months until she left after completing uni. This one had a very high sex drive n we had mindblowing sex. My ex didn't. We sometimes had good sex but really, it was like once a week and I am too big for her to enjoy fully.

Can you ever get back with an ex? I don't know if I want the sexual side of that relationship back, it would need to change. She stopped giving me blowjobs (she was amazing at it) and I can't stand condoms. Is this even worth pursuing? I reckon she'd be outraged if I bring up better sex as a precursor to dating again

28 here. Male. German

>What have you been up to recently?
Didn't do anything since college. Completely worthless degree prevents me from even trying.
>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
action figures, oldschool consoles, comic books, careless childhood memories of a promising future
>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
suggestive interrogation - obviously yes, didn't make any new friends in years
>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
Never experienced teenage love, didn't work up work ethics to suceed in anything, designated for failure
>>
I turn 29 tomorrow (one year until I become a wizard)

>What have you been up to recently?
I pretty much just work and sleep. I'm saving up all my wages but I don't really know what for. I don't have any drive or motivation to really do anything anymore

>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
Remembering when I would see friends regularly. The rare times when I get to play local multiplayer in video games.

>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
I have always had difficulty making friends. Lately, I have been drifting apart from my few friends I've had over the years. They all continue to get married and have children and I'm still just here doing nothing. Can't really hang out with them anymore because they don't have the time to.

>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
Nothing really comes to mind.

Iktf. It's like they are all adopting new roles in life find new meaning and I still feel like a teenager.

I'm just fucking glad I filled out invalid paperwork, so that cunts "diagnose" can never be entered into any official records anywhere. On the consent sheet I entered a month old date. >:) Fucking retarded bitch never even noticed, even when she quickly looked it over.

>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
I haven't had friends since I was 17.

>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
I wasted my best years doing sweet fuck all, now that I'm getting older and dumber I really regret it. I can still accomplish some things but I'm years behind everybody else, and lack both the energy and free time afforded to younger people.

>tfw can't enjoy anything anymore because I perpetually feel like I'm wasting time and death seems less abstract than ever

What do you even do with life once you get so old? There doesn't seem to be anything you can aspire to if you've wasted a third of your life. Shit sucks

Usually hanging out with my friends. We are grown up now and we cant get fucked up like we used to.

Same as it ever was

Yes some. I definetly made some good decisions along the way, but there are things I wish I had done. Right now one of the big ones is that I want kids, but being 29 with a combined income of 150k could be a fucking sick time without them.

>What have you been up to recently?
I have college debt so I've been working to get rid of it so I can actually move away from home and start my life.
>What sort of things make you feel nostalgic?
Just how upbeat the entire country was (the US) back in the 90s and early 00s when the economy was booming and the internet age was starting.
>Do you find it more difficult to make real friends the older you get?
Yeah. Most people my age are married or working. My hobbies are childish and I rarely meet people who share them.
>Do you ever feel like you missed opportunities when you were younger that won't arise again?
All the time. I think about how if I had just made different choices, I wouldn't have wasted the last 4 years literally doing nothing but trying to get out of school debt. I also regret not socializing in college (I was religious then and didn't want to party). I can't go back and experience those things anymore.

Everything is horrible and I'm losing my sanity. Destroyed my PC, cell phone, passport, and all evidence of apprenticeship hours today. Got my van running again though, so at least I have a means to produce carbon monoxide.
